Amber DeVilbiss

Founder, Chief Executive Officer

Mom. Security Advisor. Author/Illustrator. Big fan of inclusivity.

Amber started Teach Kids Tech in 2021 with one goal in mind: to create a level playing field where every child in every community has the opportunity to succeed in technology.

A maverick at heart, she advocates for nontraditional career paths into technology and provides how-to guidance on breaking into the field through her educational TechTok videos on social media, and is the author and illustrator of the children’s book, The Little Cyber Engineer. As an advocate for diversity and inclusion, she sits on the board of directors for both LIFT Women in Security, and The Cyber Queens Podcast.

Her 14-year career in cybersecurity began as a waitress with a new baby on the way and no game plan. Wanting to build a better quality of life for her and her son, she was determined to find a job that would allow her to afford life, while also enjoying it. With no degree, no certifications and no experience in tech, she set out to find any entry level role that would allow her to get her foot in the door. After taking her first job as a compliance analyst with a large cybersecurity firm, she continued to work her way through various roles in the industry - holding titles like: Security Analyst, Security Engineer, Solutions Architect and SOC Manager.
